Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Techlarify ("we", "us", or "our"), operated by Glick Enterprise, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide:

When you use Techlarify, you may provide:

  • Device or application descriptions
  • Your technical goals
  • Error messages you're experiencing
  • Steps you've already tried
  • Platform and skill level selections

Important: We do NOT store your actual questions or error messages. We only store the length (character count) of your inputs for analytics purposes.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information:

  • IP Address: Stored as a salted SHA-256 hash (not reversible to your actual IP)
  • User Agent: Stored as a salted SHA-256 hash (not your actual browser info)
  • Usage Data: Platform type, skill level
  • Request Counts: Number of requests per day (for rate limiting)

2.3 Payment Information:

Payment processing is handled by Paddle. We do not store your credit card information. Paddle's privacy policy governs their data collection and use.

2.4 Account Information:

When you create an account or log in, we collect:

  • Email address (for authentication and login codes)
  • Login timestamps
  • Session information

Your email is used solely to send login verification codes and is not shared with third parties except our email service provider (Resend) for delivery.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and improve the Service
  • Generate AI-powered technical guidance
  • Enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
  • Manage paid subscriptions and access
  • Analyze usage patterns (using only anonymized data)
  • Comply with legal obligations

Platform and skill level selections are collected to help us understand which devices and user groups need support most, allowing us to improve the Service over time. This data is anonymized and cannot be linked back to individual users.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 What We Store:

  • Hashed IP addresses and user agents (SHA-256 with salt)
  • Input lengths (character counts only, not actual text)
  • Platform and skill level selections
  • Request timestamps and success/failure status
  • Payment status (paid/unpaid, subscription status)

4.2 What We DO NOT Store:

  • Your actual questions or error messages
  • Device names or identifiers
  • Technical descriptions you provide
  • Raw IP addresses or user agent strings
  • Any personally identifiable information

4.3 Security: We use industry-standard security measures including encryption, hashing, and secure server infrastructure (Neon Database, Vercel hosting).

4.4 Follow-Up Conversations:

If you use the follow-up feature to refine your solution:

  • Conversation history is stored in your browser only (not on our servers)
  • History is lost when you close or refresh the page
  • Maximum 3 follow-ups per conversation
  • Each follow-up counts as 1 request toward your usage cap

This client-side storage means your conversation is never sent to or stored on our servers. Only the final request data (platform, skill level, input lengths) is logged as described above.

4.5 Account Information Caching:

When you are logged in, to improve performance and reduce loading times:

  • Your account details (email, plan type, usage statistics) are cached in your browser
  • This cache is stored locally on your device only
  • The cache is automatically refreshed every 5 minutes
  • All cached data is cleared when you log out
  • You can manually clear this data through your browser settings

This browser-based caching improves your experience by displaying your account information instantly when navigating between pages, without needing to contact our servers each time. The cached data never leaves your device and contains only your own account information that you can already see when logged in.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI: Processes your questions to generate guidance (not stored by us)
  • Paddle: Processes payments (see Paddle's privacy policy)
  • Resend: Email delivery service for login verification codes (see Resend's privacy policy)
  • Neon: Database hosting (server-side only, encrypted)
  • Vercel: Application hosting

These services have their own privacy policies governing their use of data.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies for essential functionality only (session management). We do NOT use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics.

7. Data Retention

We retain anonymized usage data indefinitely for analytics purposes. Since we only store hashed identifiers and input lengths (not actual content), this data cannot be used to identify you.

8. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, traditional data rights (access, deletion, etc.) do not apply in the usual sense. However:

  • Your questions are never stored, so there's nothing to delete
  • Hashed identifiers cannot be reversed to identify you
  • You can contact us with privacy concerns at any time

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

10. International Users and Data Transfers

The Service is operated from Israel by Glick Enterprise. If you are located outside Israel, your information may be transferred to and processed in Israel and other locations where our service providers operate.

By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing. We take appropriate measures to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Your Privacy Rights: Regardless of where you are located, you have the rights described in this Privacy Policy. If you are in the European Union, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are in California, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
